El/La Para Translatinas: Save the Date!

Join on Friday, Oct. 8, between 6:00 and 8:00pm on Facebook Live for a celebration of their fifteen years serving the community. The event, 鈥淓l/La: Poderosas, Libres y Hermosas Quincea帽El/La: Poderosas, Libres y Hermosas / Powerful, Free & Beautiful,鈥 will be raising funds to support the Project鈥檚 on-going programming, which includes their COVID-19 Relief Program; Violence Prevention; HIV Prevention, Testing & PrEP Navigation; Community Strengthening; Leadership Development; and Advocacy.鈥 El/La is glad to have the opportunity to celebrate the resiliency of their translatina community after such a challenging year for their staff and participants.


Global Philanthropy Project: Jobs Board

(GPP) has launched a that shares employment opportunities with GPP, their member organizations, and other partners related to LGBTI funding and closely-related human rights funding work. Jobs currently posted include positions with the International Trans Fund and Global Fund for Women.


Attendance Works: Grade-Level Reading Webinar

Hedy Chang, Executive Director of , will be moderating a webinar put on by the (CGLR) on Tuesday, Sept. 14,between 12:00 and 1:30pm. The webinar is a part of CGLR鈥檚 Learning Tuesdays. Learning Tuesdays feature a wide range of presenters to inform and inspire attendees through their research, practice, and lived experience. The webinar on Sept. 14 will focus on 鈥淩e-engaging Young Students and Families: Keeping Kids Safe, Healthy, and Showing Up for Learning.鈥


Palomacy: Craig Newmark Philanthropies Grant

Craig Newmark, founder of craigslist.org, has supported since 2013. His foundation, Craig Newmark Philanthropies, recently granted Palomacy $20,000 to continue their work rescuing, rehabilitating, and placing pigeons and doves. Palomacy believes they share the foundation鈥檚 commitment to making sure everyone is included and treated fairly and respectfully. Palomacy鈥檚 placements increased 58% in 2020, and they are currently looking for more fosters and adopters! You can check out their available birds .


Board Member Highlight

Abbas Moloo

Abbas Moloo is the Senior Vice President at Mutual of America Financial Group, a financial services company that provides retirement plan services to small to midsize companies and nonprofits in general. Abbas is responsible for the聽Northern California branch for Mutual of America, which handles all the aspects of a retirement plan including investment services, record keeping, plan design and consultation, employee education, and fiduciary services.

Outside of his professional work, Abbas is also the founder of 聽鈥撀燼 nonprofit dedicated to helping communities in East Africa in the areas of food security, providing clean water sources and offering scholarships to those who are most in need and want to study in local schools and universities.

Abbas is also on the board of Literacy International, which supports education in underserved communities by investing in educational infrastructure, foundational programs, and activities that provide sustained benefits over time to help raise educated children with high moral values, acquire valuable skills to raise their living standard, and contribute to society.

In 2018, Abbas had an interview with Cheryl Jennings at ABC News to discuss the plight of the refugees in Greece at that time. You can .

In his remaining free time, Abbas is an avid hiker. He climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2018.

He currently resides in Walnut Creek with his wife and two kids.
