Our project\u00a0partner,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepressforward.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"2\">The Press Forward<\/a>, gathered news organizations to ensure voices across all industries were represented\u00a0in this study. The report finds that a year and a half into the pandemic \u201cwomen have made important gains in representation, and especially in senior leadership. But the pandemic continues to take a toll. Women are now significantly more burned out\u2014and increasingly more so than men.\u201d The Wall Street Journal also published a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/womens-careers-covid-19-toll-11632506362?mod=e2tw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"3\">special report<\/a>\u00a0based on the McKinsey study.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxxxxxmsonormal\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/featured-insights\/diversity-and-inclusion\/women-in-the-workplace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"4\">Read the full report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"x_xxxxxxmsonormal\"><strong>Gameheads: Startup Funding<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"x_xxxxxxmsonormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10727 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/communityinitiatives.org\/project-portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/09\/image005.png\" alt=\"Gameheads screen\" width=\"283\" height=\"201\" \/>Humble Games and 2K Foundations have each committed $40,000 to be split between two game development teams at <a href=\"https:\/\/gameheadsoakland.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"5\">Gameheads<\/a>. The resulting video games will be the first produced through Gameheads Studios. You can make in-kind donations or donate a new sleeping bag through their Amazon\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/registry\/wishlist\/1IYRKF6798JZ7\/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_ws_coX7BbN7GJTKG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"8\">wishlist<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxxxxxmsonormal\">This fall, PHC also continues to offer their services including eye care, distribution of hygiene kits, rental assistance, help with DMV vouchers, etc. In their most recent newsletter, they highlighted their work providing services to participants in the Richmond neighborhood with the help of local volunteers.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"x_xxxxxxmsonormal\"><strong>Vision Zero Network: Bird Endorsement<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10730 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/communityinitiatives.org\/project-portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/09\/image010-300x173.png\" alt=\"Vision Zero Network and Bird\" width=\"300\" height=\"173\" \/>Transportation company Bird has officially announced their support of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/visionzeronetwork.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"9\">Vision Zero Network<\/a>.\u00a0Bird, whose mission is to make cities more livable by reducing car usage, traffic, and carbon emissions, shares Vision Zero Network\u2019s belief that everyone has the right to safe mobility.\u00a0\u201cEnsuring safe\u00a0mobility includes working with community partners to implement common sense, data-driven reforms like decreasing automobile speeds, investing in safe roadway designs,\u00a0and other changes that prioritize the well-being of vulnerable road users,\u201d said Jenn Fox, program director at Vision Zero Network. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful to companies like Bird for supporting these efforts. Both of her grandmothers were teachers, and her maternal grandmother was one of the first African American principals of Crane High School in Chicago, a school of 5,000 students at the time! Her mother is both an English teacher and a librarian. Her father is a dentist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\">Growing up in Chicago, her family had six cats at one point in time after her sister found the mother, Trixie, who unexpectedly had five kittens. The Williams family found them too cute to give any up, so they had Maximilian, Sebastian, Cali, Skinny, and Samantha join the family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\">Always an athlete, Ruth played basketball throughout high school. In college at the University of Chicago, she ran cross country and track AND played basketball. She was the first recipient of the Patricia R.
