The project is &#8220;designed to empower emerging journalists who are passionate about reimagining journalism through the lens of equity and social justice&#8221; by helping these entry-level journalists connect with colleagues and new mentors, produce social justice-focused journalism, receive financial support, and more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/renjournalism.org\/introducing-launchpad\/\">Learn more.<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>The FruitGuys Community Fund<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-11628\" src=\"https:\/\/communityinitiatives.org\/project-portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/01\/IMG_3743.png\" alt=\"Bee on sunflower\" width=\"800\" height=\"267\" \/>After a break due to the pandemic in 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/fruitguyscommunityfund.org\/\">The FruitGuys Community Fund<\/a> is once again accepting applications for grants to be awarded in 2022. These $2,000-$5,000 grants support projects that promote sustainability on small farms in the US. The deadline to apply is Monday, January 31.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fruitguyscommunityfund.org\/alumni-grantees\/\">Learn about past grantees.<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Our Fiscally Sponsored Projects Respond to Omicron<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11627 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/communityinitiatives.org\/project-portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/01\/IMG_3745-300x191.png\" alt=\"Castro Country Club\" width=\"300\" height=\"191\" \/>Executive Director Billy Lemon announced on January 4 that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.castrocountryclub.org\/\">Castro Country Club<\/a> will be closed for 10 days from January 5 through January 15 as a result of a significant number of their volunteers testing positive and being exposed to Covid-19. Their meetings have also been suspended as they focus on keeping the community safe.<\/li>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11626 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/communityinitiatives.org\/project-portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/01\/IMG_3746-300x130.png\" alt=\"Digging Deep\" width=\"300\" height=\"130\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/diggingdeep.org\/home\/\">Digging Deep<\/a> recently published an article about <a href=\"https:\/\/diggingdeep.org\/kids-anxiety-growth\/\">helping young people process anxiety<\/a> into growth during these unpredictable times as the landscape of education changes once again due to increasing omicron cases, in addition to other unexpected crises causing young people to experience more trauma and anxiety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Don&#8217;t forget to check our fiscally sponsored projects&#8217; hours and programming as these may change due to the current course of Covid.
