The Council for Global Equality<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"Our partner project, The Council for Global Equality<\/a>, is one of several advocacy groups pushing for the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals who remain in Afghanistan. In particular, they are advocating for the Taliban to recognize the rights of everyone in the county, including those who identify as LGBTQ+. The Council for Global Equality has taken action by requesting that the Biden administration prioritize evacuation of vulnerable populations within Afghanistan.<\/p>\n

Project Homeless Connect<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"In Mobile, Alabama, Project Homeless Connect<\/a> just held an event to help un-housed people get back on their feet. Homelessness is a growing issue in Alabama, especially with pandemic-related poverty issues. There are reported to be more than 6,000 homeless people state-wide. Project Homeless Connect is designed to provide help and resources to people who are homeless with valuable services including healthcare, legal assistance, and housing assistance.<\/p>\n

Digging Deep Project<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"Very few people have been untouched by anxiety since the COVID-19 pandemic took hold. Some people with children fighting chronic illnesses are asking themselves if it’s okay to feel some relief now that so many people are beginning to understand what it’s like to live with this worry. Digging Deep Project<\/a> shared an article to talk about some of the questions people with immunocompromised kids have been asking themselves as the pandemic continues.<\/p>\n

The Press Forward<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"Together with the University of Texas at Austin, The Press Forward<\/a> has launched a “Creating a Safe and Fair Workplace” training. A case study, “#MeToo, Charlie Rose and Newsroom Practices” is at the center of a multimedia module in this training, which prompts students to try to understand the complexity of sexual harassment.<\/p>\n

Get to Know ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÉç\u2019 Admin Staff!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Jose Plascencia<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Jose joined the Client Services team in 2019, bringing with him several years of experience in fiscal sponsorship.<\/p>\n

Growing up, he lived in both rural and urban areas in Mexico and Southern California before moving to the Bay Area. His experiences in these different social contexts helped root his interest in community work and serving diverse groups of people.<\/p>\n

Outside of work, Jose collaborates with other artists in conceptual art installations. Some past Bay Area exhibits were installed in the California Institute of Integral Studies, Fruitville Plaza BART station, and Golden Gate Park.<\/p>\n

This last year Jose started keeping bees, and through them he\u2019s learning what it means to be responsible in caring for the seasonal process that involves his hive as well as native plants and the ecosystem.<\/p>\n
