Leadership Learning Community<\/a> (LLC) Addressing Anti-Asian Violence<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"Earlier this month, LLC published a\u00a0statement<\/a> in response to recent attacks on Asian Americans. LLC is committed to supporting leadership that reflects racial justice values. As such, LLC will be hosting two events to make space for reflection, strategy, and comfort. They hosted a Community Gathering on Anti-Asian Violence at 1pm PT on Thursday, April 8 in addition to their monthly BIPOC Affinity Group, a space for BIPOC leaders to connect and offer peer support. This month\u2019s BIPOC Affinity Group meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 27 at 12pm PT. LLC has also put together a list of resources<\/a>\u00a0for anyone wishing to contribute to Asian American organizations and anti-Asian violence causes.<\/p>\n

U.S. Digital Response<\/a> (USDR) Celebrating One Year of Achievements<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"USDR has accomplished a lot over its first year in existence, including developing tools to help states and agencies identify and apply for grants, making it easier for the public to find COVID vaccine appointments through online platforms, and improving access to accurate and timely COVID-related information and guidance. USDR would like to thank its partners for the incredible work they are doing for their communities around the country by hosting their first-ever Stretch Clap Awards on Thursday, April 22 at 12pm PT. The free virtual event will celebrate the work USDR and its partners have accomplished together throughout the last year.\u00a0Subscribe to USDR\u2019s distribution list<\/a>\u00a0to get a save-the-date email with more information about the event.<\/p>\n

The FoodWorks Fund<\/a> Providing\u00a0Hunger Relief<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"Since its launch in August 2020, The FoodWorks Fund has provided healthy food to more than 22,000 people in need. In order to continue to feed communities in need and support farmers facing tough times during the pandemic, The FoodWorks Fund will continue its fundraising efforts through the end of April 2021.<\/p>\n

The Center for Engaged Scholarship<\/a> (CES): News from the Center<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"The Center for Engaged Scholarship recently drafted a\u00a0petition to President Biden<\/a>\u00a0requesting the cancellation of student debt, arguing that it would be an important step toward diminishing the Black-white wealth gap. Earlier in the year, CES President Fred Block\u2019s article\u00a0\u201cFixing the Academic Paradox\u201d<\/a>\u00a0was published in\u00a0Nonprofit Quarterly<\/em>. The article breaks down the myth that social science professors are all leftist radicals and encourages more social scientists and scholars to transform their theories into practice as contributors to movements for social justice.<\/p>\n

Latino Outdoors<\/a> Co-Sponsors Film<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"\u201cCycles of Ancestry\u201d is a short film about Mario\u00a0Ordo\u00f1ez-Calder\u00f3n, a first-generation Mayan American who bikepacks 1,500 miles\u00a0through the Yucatan Peninsula to explore his cultural heritage and learn about how one\u2019s roots can change their future.\u00a0The film, directed by Ryder England, was sponsored by Latino Outdoors, in addition to REI Co-op, Hispanic Access, and a few others. You can watch the ten-minute film on\u00a0REI\u2019s blog<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n
