Black Funders Network: 1st Anniversary Celebration<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"Black<\/a>Watch\u00a0Black Funders Network of the Bay Area\u2019s (BFN)<\/a>\u00a0four-minute video\u00a0celebrating their first anniversary. (You can catch glimpses of 黑料福利社\u2019 President & CEO, Ruth Williams, and board member, Steve Barton, in the video.)\u00a0BFN\u2019s\u00a0goal is to foster \u201can aligned support network of Bay Area Black philanthropic professionals to connect, align, and (re)energize to best support Black communities and organizations across disciplines.\u201d Within their first year, they\u2019ve grown their network to over 100 participants, representing more than forty organizations, and have held over ten successful events with their partner programs. In the next year, BFN plans to continue to grow their network and provide professional resources for philanthropic success.<\/p>\n

Big Cat Sanctuary Alliance: Rescuing Tiger King Park Big Cats<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"Turpentine<\/a>Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge (TCWR), a member sanctuary of the\u00a0Big Cat Sanctuary Alliance<\/a>\u00a0(BCSA), took part in the rescue of sixty-eight big cats from Tiger King Park, formerly owned by Joe Exotic (of reality television infamy). TCWR members made two trips to Oklahoma to bring back a total of thirteen cats, assist with transport of eight cats to other sanctuaries, and help place others through the BCSA. The cats were seized after the park\u2019s current owners, Jeffery and Lauren Lowe, failed to comply with court orders to improve the big cats\u2019 level of care.<\/p>\n

Big Cat Sanctuary Alliance: #HoustonTiger Update<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Also in BCSA news, a tiger recently found roaming the streets of Houston, TX, has found his new home. The tiger, referred to as #HoustonTiger on social media, was unharmed and will be held in Murchinson, TX, by BCSA sanctuary member Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch.<\/p>\n

Center for Scientific Collaboration and Community Engagement: New Research Collaboration Guide<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"Strategy<\/a>Last month,\u00a0Center for Scientific Collaboration and Community Engagement<\/a>\u00a0(CSCCE)\u2019s Director, Lou Woodley, facilitated a workshop on team science and collaborative research during the Zuckerman Institute\u2019s Neuroscience Symposium. Attendees explored the importance of collaboration and worked with a brand new CSCCE tip sheet that provides tools for team efforts.<\/p>\n
